Lisa Kelly from “3 Fat Bees” is a self taught apiarist who started four years ago with one hive. Over this time Lisa has increased her hive numbers to fifty and now has a commercial business.
Lisa will impart her knowledge of the interesting and exciting world and life of bees.
There will also be an opportunity to purchase Lisa’s Australian honey cold extracted direct from the hive.
Afternoon tea is included.

Spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon in a garden setting at Beelarong Community Farm while we light up our clay cob oven. We will be cooking a variety of pizzas to share in our shaded outdoor area.
We can provide gluten free, please let us know about it.

Beelarong Community Farm Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday 10th December 2017 at 3pm. Copies of the proxy form and the nomination form can be found here

Nominations for positions on the Management Committee must be received by the Secretary by the 26th November. We are always looking for motivated and committed people to join us!

Please return nomination forms to : The Secretary, PO BOX 595, Morningside Qld 4170, or give them directly to Lorraine (Treasurer) or Richard (President) at the farm.

There will be food and drinks afterwards. Please bring a plate.

Kid's garden building

Join us at the farm on Friday 1st December! Bunnings will be supporting the Beelarong Community by donating and constructing a children’s garden and other accessories.

Kids, come along and help build our new bed and plant some veggies and flowers!

We will be supplying afternoon tea for the kids and tea and coffee for the parents from 3.30pm. The garden bed building will be from 4pm to 5pm. What a great way to finish off the week and meet some other Mums and Dads!

Beelarong's 20th Anniversary

Join us to celebrate Beelarong Community Farm’s 20 years anniversary on Sunday 19th November from 3pm to 6pm.

It is thanks to the support of thousands of volunteers over the years, passionate gardeners and community leaders, local councillors and MPs, local businesses and everyone who visits the farm that we became what we are today.

We will organise a sausage sizzle, fire the cob oven and provide drinks and entertainment. More details to come.

Knit’n’Natter, Crochet’n’Chatter

Come along to Beelarong Community Farm at 9.30am on Tuesday 10th October and join a friendly group to knit or crochet Poppies. 

We will contribute to the 5000 Poppies Appeal, which is a Community Tribute to pay Respect and Remembrance and to honour the fallen in WW1 on Remembrance Day 2018. This is the Centenary of the end of WW1. They will be planted in Canberra or they may be distributed to the RSL.

A friend of the Farm, Roxy Hutchinson, will be there to teach beginners and the patterns are very simple. Copies will be available to take home.
We will set ourselves a target on the day.

You will need to bring along the following,
1 ball of 8 ply red wool.
1 pr 3.25 or 3.5 mm needles (if knitting)
3.5mm Crochet hook (if tension is loose drop to 3.0 MM hook)
Darning needle.
Green and Black wool will be available at the farm for the centres.
If you have buttons suitable for the centres, please bring them along.

This will be a fun relaxing morning and the farm will supply tea and coffee.

Learn how to make sauerkraut! This is a hands-on session where you will make your sauerkraut to take home.

We will teach you about the fermentation process and how to look after your sauerkraut during the fermentation stage. Within a matter of days you will be able to enjoy the finished product at home.

*** Local artist Dianne Lloyd will be showcasing her beautiful cards featuring local scenes around Morningside.
*** Take the opportunity to check out our delicious jams, marmalades and pickles for sale. Dorothea is well known for her organic Rosella Jam made from fruit grown at Beelarong - but be quick - it’s sure to sell out early.
*** Plants, herbs and succulents will be on sale.
*** Bring the kids over to our stall where they can pot up their own seedlings to take home with them.
*** Look for our group in the grand Parade at 10am.
*** Di Ferguson’s scarecrow “Costa” will be there. Bring along your phone or camera and take a pic with him.
*** Back at the farm, cnr York and Beverley Streets, Lisa will be hosting tours of the farm at 12:30pm and 1:30pm.

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Beelarong, growing your own veggies, and finding out more about how you can become involved and enjoy the place.

Community Composting Welcome Day

Council's network of Community Composting Hubs is growing!

Help minimise the amount of waste you send to landfill by composting your kitchen scraps and helping your local community grow fruit and vegetables.
This casual, yet engaging, event will include a free morning tea and provide an opportunity for a Council Waste Minimisation Officer to explain how the new facility works and the valuable sustainability outcomes achieved by disposing of organic food waste responsibly.

So come to Beelarong on Saturday 15th July to join this new composting project!
